Each valve arrived in its own little individual box with all the parts. They have a metal ball valve and only require a 1/4 turn to operate. The ball valve type should last much longer than older check valves that rely on washer compression. I decided to replace the badly frozen old shut off valves on all the plumbing in the house along with the old plumbing. 20 valves is a bit more than I need for my house, so I make some at my mother-in-law's house too. They worked just as well as the local home center but at less than half the price per unit. I removed the existing compression rings using the best compression ring removal tool. When reassembling I apply a little PTFE paste to the bare copper tube before putting on the new ring and then apply some over the ring. While I don't normally have leaks even without PTFE sealant, I never have one when I use it.
