I've suffered from hearing loss for years as the result of a noisy work environment. I've heard too many horror stories about the expensive hearing aides that often cost thousands ending up in a drawer somewhere to know not to go down that path. After doing some research I came to realize that having an aide with noise cancellation was paramount. That eliminated most of the cheaper ones. I was still very skeptical, as the price for this one is still quite low when thinking about how much "doctor" prescribed ones cost. I only use this in noisy environments where I sometimes struggle with hearing conversations if there is a lot of ambient noise. It works quite well. It cancels out much of the surrounding sounds and allows for me to focus more on the conversation. Also, don't believe the stories about these types of aides somehow damaging you hearing further. From everything I've been able to ascertain, that's pure rubbish. Give one a try!
