I haven't had this in over 4 months so I can't say how long it will last (in my experience humidifiers last around 1 year). BUT honestly it doesn't matter because the stars on the ceiling are amazing! We turn them on every night for my 4 year old son (no humidifier) and he just stares at them until he falls asleep. It is very relaxing to watch the changing stars. Sometimes I just lie here and look at her. They're also perfectly bright. There's enough light to be a pseudo night light, but not enough to alert him all night.
