The only reason I chose to purchase Waterpik was to use it for periodontal care as recommended by my dental hygienist. Total surprise when it arrived with 4 floss tips but not the deep cleaning 'under the gum line' tip that is part of the description of this Waterpik model. Potential buyers should also understand that this is definitely not a 'travel' model, as it's too big for most people to forego the trunk to take with them. Finally, the construction of this model is cheap compared to my old Waterpik and the noise is very loud. The more expensive model is only $10 more than this and includes a periodontal handpiece. I should have bought it. Next time I'll read more carefully so I'm not fooled by the flowery descriptions of the manufacturers of their products! Update: I've been using this for about 2 weeks and am switching to a more expensive model that's only $10 more. Given the slight difference in price, I'm hoping the new one won't be as "thin" due to the larger size. The cheaper model's controls are awkwardly placed on the handle and water tank body, and not as pleasant to the touch as I had hoped. But it's passable if you don't want to spend $10 of Exyra!
