Review on Enhance Your Aquarium with Seachem Fluorite Onyx Sand Substrate: Unveiling the Incomparable Aquatic Bliss by Tammy Griffin

Not for me Suitable for fish and aquatic life

That was three hours of my life that I'll never get back. I read the reviews before buying but I liked the color so much that I decided to try it. It was a failed $25 experiment. The reviews warned me. Let's clarify. In my pocket I had about 1/4 (by volume) of superfine powdered sugar with the consistency of a gray powder. I spent about an hour washing 1/3 of a 15.4 lb bag out of the mix. What remained was 3/5 very very fine sand, which was NOT YET fully pulverized. The remaining 2/5 were gravel. To separate the gravel from the sand, I rubbed a tablespoon of it through a sieve. The gravel was weird and light, just by adding some water from a cup to the tank the gravel flew off the bottom of the tank. It never settles and is SHARP. I couldn't in good conscience attach a corridor or loaches to that. The attached photos are as follows: Sand still contains some powder compared to a dime. Cleaned gravel compared to a dime. How I ended up just removing the gravel. Gravel versus black stone and light gray stone for color comparison. What happens when you pour a cup of water into a 5.5 gallon tank with gravel on the bottom? For my money, time, and effort, I ended up with a pile of powder down the drain, three 16-ounce cans of fine sand and some powder I hadn't washed, and two 16-ounce cans of sharp light-weight gravel . I don't really use these in my aquarium. Maybe I'll use it for wabi kusa. The color is a beautiful combination of gray tones.
