I ordered this case because I was replacing the optical bay in my early 2011 MacBook Pro with an SSD and needed a cheap optical drive case that could be used over USB. I read all the other reviews and this one seemed right to me. When I got it, it was exactly as I imagined. The design is cheap but it works. I plugged in an optical drive and it worked great with my computer. A Macbook SuperDrive dangles a bit in the case because the SuperDrive is a slot-loading drive and the case is designed for a regular tray-loading drive. In this case, the front cover that you insert the DVD into will not fit. Not so hot what's up. To protect it from dust, I keep the drive in a plastic case until I need it. To eliminate play in the drive's case, I tore apart the foam sheet that came with the kit and inserted it into the case. That works great. All in all, for the price and the amount I (rarely) use, it's a steal. I recommend it to anyone who rarely uses their DVD drive but wants to have it handy in case of an emergency.
