First, these medium to large sized umbrellas are very inexpensive, less than $6 each. I was a bit concerned that a lot of customers were complaining about a few broken parts but apart from some pretty sloppy velcro stitching they seem fine and all 10 seem to work. Metal frame (see photo), but imperceptible from the outside, and again less than six dollars. Went in light rain and no water got in. I'm pretty sure a flood or hurricane will deal with that quickly, so think of them more like umbrellas to block some of the sunlight (which is what we use them for) or to keep out light rain so your guests can get to a safe place. They're cheap enough to be considered essentially party favors. By the way, be careful when you close them so that the metal pin ends up where it should be in the latch (see picture).
