These are good quality acrylic paints. Although described as "thin," they still have a consistency that may need thinning depending on the project. Golden has a good reputation and also offers many different mediums that you can use to mix with acrylic paints to create different effects. This is a good kit for beginners, but I've read that pros also like this product. I would recommend this set to crafters and mixed media artists.
