Very happy with this mattress topper. For starters, you have a bed with a pillow, but I wanted to add a little extra "pillow" for more softness and comfort. This mattress topper definitely added a soft "cloud" to the pillow. Arrived neatly folded in a vacuum bag. No smell, no stains, no bad stitching. Each quilted "cloud" is fully stuffed, not a pillow is missing. Tumble dry on low heat fluffed/refreshed, changed every 5 minutes for 30 minutes. Once the thread has fallen into the lint filter, there is no more lint. There are plenty of "fitted pockets" so there's no chance of it slipping off a side or corner. I have a good 6 inch headroom under the bed with a mattress topper. The quilted top mattress pad itself evenly conforms to the edges of my mattress and does not shorten on either side. The deep pocket sheet still fits this mattress topper very well, too tight. The overall thickness of this "pillow" mattress topper is approximately 2 inches. Cotton is naturally cool to the touch, so yes, the upper is cool to the touch. The blanket itself is filled with 100% polyester which is a little warm but not hot. Doesn't hold heat. Wasn't looking for a super thick mattress topper. It just needed a bit more soft fluff to add to my pillow bed and that's exactly what I was hoping for :)
