I've been getting code P0430 *GEAR* on my 2007 Honda Odyssey for a few months now. It didn't seem to really affect the car's drivability so I reset and ignored it until it became more frequent: Nov 2019 119,328 miles Jan 2020 120,845 miles (39 days and 1517 miles). later) February 2020 @ 121,987 miles (35 days and 1142 miles later) March 2020 @ 122,719 miles (30 days and 732 miles later) So I decided to do some research and this is what I found out: * Honda Odyssey has 4 O2 sensors : 2 per bank, 1 before the catalyst and 1 after.* The sensor before the catalyst is referred to as "sensor 1" or "upstream".* The sensor after the catalyst conversion is referred to as "sensor 2" or downstream. ".* Bank 1 is where cylinder 1 is, which is closer to the cab on my car.* So bank 2 is at the front of the car. , the two O2 sensors before and after the catalyst report values outside the expected range. etc., possible problems could be the following: 1) Sensor 1 is defective (e.g. post-catalyst reading out of range). 2) The catalytic converter itself is defective and not doing its job (oops, that can get expensive). 3) Sensor 2 is defective. 4) Some combinations of the above. After some more research, it turned out that the P0430 is most likely related to sensor 2. At $40, I thought it was worth a try (and in fact, for a 13-year-old, 123,000-mile Odyssey, I don't want to spend hundreds of dollars on a new catalytic converter). I chose Denso because it is a reliable OEM brand. As shown in the picture, the removed part and the new Denso part are direct replacements. Installation is easy (you need to jack up the car and you need an O2 sensor connector) but other than that it's pretty easy. I only give 4 stars because, as you can see in the picture, the wire clamps are not supplied with the new part. I didn't want to reuse the old ones (and they were very difficult to remove) so I used a zip tie to secure them. You will need 2. TIP: Get 2 *LONG* cable ties as they are easier to apply. There is very little space and you cannot pull on the cable ties with both hands. Just take the long ones so you have more space. I don't know if this will actually fix the P0430 code, but after installing it there was no check engine light. I need to gain a few miles and regroup. However, the P0430 code did not return and it also passed SMOG with no problems. So all good.
