Worth the money and 4 inches thick.
It was easy to assemble. It only took 10-15 minutes. The seat and footrest are 4 inches thick (photo attached). I've used it for 2 hours and it's comfortable. As others have said, the knees can hurt at first. I had some discomfort in the upper calf just below the knee. I was expecting this as we don't usually kneel when we sit. I know it goes away after multiple uses. I definitely recommend it. I'm short and it's perfect for my desk top height. No back pain at all.
