I think they make a decent sharpening starter kit. I appreciate that DMT made an affordable set of diamond whetstones. I think there are several things that allow them to do this. 1) Diamond coated stone design only on the part of the stone and circles that need to capture chips/chips. 2) the cheap plastic backing that the stones are made of. However, I still find this set to be good value and probably something the average carpenter won't wear out, especially any time soon. My biggest complaint is that they made the box so cheap. Looks nice but as others have said the stones fit in freely so you can't sharpen the stones in the box because they move around in it. So easy to fix but DMT does nothing. In addition, if this box gets even a little wet, it will become INCREDIBLY deformed and immediately become unusable. I can't imagine providing a decent box of DMT would cost that much more and it would make a huge difference. The box is so terrible I'm torn between 3 and 4 stars. I gave it 4 stars because despite its shortcomings, it's pretty good value for money.
