Review on 🚗 Rugged Ridge 11546.50 Heavy-Duty Tire Carrier Kit for 2007-2018 Jeep Wrangler JK by Jared Winebrenner

I couldn't imagine spending an extra $200 on a Terraflex mount and swivel so I got that and essentially saved a free spare tire. I chose an Xprite brake light that is mounted in the spare wheel. I'm on a 2016 JKU with 35" tires and 16" Cepek DC2 wheels. Each wheel tire weighs approximately 115 pounds. If you complain about knocking, you have to be careful when installing the hinge. I used three phase puffs. Initially when you wedge and fasten first. Second, as you rotate it to the open position (about 20 degrees), lift the wedge and retighten. And the third when installing the spare tire and lifting the wedge AGAIN. This should make it smooth and firm. So far I haven't had any problems. I've only had mine a week, but I've been testing it on park curbs and speed bumps at various speeds and angles to test a turn with declines/climbs and a straight with sharp declines/climbs. Height adjustment please, I'll get back to you in a few months to give an update. So far I think this is a GREAT HD mount and easy to install hinge kit.
