Review on ๐Ÿ”ง Kreg Straight Edge Guide XL-8 Ft: Versatile Woodworking Essential for Precise Cuts by Lloyd Rodriguez

Instead, purchase an 8-foot spirit level with two clamps.

I bought this to cut and saw 4x8 sheets of plywood with a circular saw. It does a great job as a guide for the saw. About 12 inches from the edges it tends to rise above the board and this allows the saw guide to go off course under the ruler. never mind So I had to hold the ruler with one hand and manipulate the saw with the other. The cutting line indicators are pretty much useless as they have to be moved sideways for each cut (or saw cut). One of mine doesn't move without the use of a hammer - which also moves the ruler from its place. I have to use a tape measure for each cut to make sure it's positioned correctly. It stays in place throughout the incision without the need to add staples. Seems like an 8ft level with a couple of clamps would work just as well and have more uses than just a ruler.

Pros
  • Works with left and right hand circular saws and some jigsaws and routers
Cons
  • Not bad but...
