I never knew how good they were until I used them. The hardest part was lifting the furniture to slide it under each leg, but when I did I was surprised at how easy it was to move the entire five piece bedroom set. I didn't even have to open the drawers! I could have used a different set of plastic shims to hold them all in place while my new floors were installed, but I only replaced the bedside shims as they were the lightest. I was curious how the shock absorbing portion of the glides would perform after being stressed for almost a week, but they immediately rebounded like they had never been used. I haven't used soft pads so I can't comment on their usefulness.
