2002 Pathfinder Free At Last

I would give 5 stars if I had more confidence in using the replacement bolts that come with these hubs. Other posts have stated that the cleats are junk, although the hubs are great. OEM bolts are metric class 8.8 (= SAE class 5). The replacement bolts that come with the hubs are not grade marked so they may be unnecessary and unusable. It wasn't worth the risk to use them, so I threw them away and used OEM bolts. On a positive note, replacing the OEM drive flanges with these hubs greatly reduced my motor's power drag when I unlocked the hubs. , works for free. The CV joints also wear out less because they stop rotating when the hubs are freewheeling. When driving in 4 x 2 mode there is also some improvement in MPG (2 MPG) as the wheels are no longer burdened by the spinning of the front differential and drive axles. Why Nissan didn't fit all of their non-4WD 4X4s with auto-locking freewheel hubs like they did on their old 4X Pathfinder is simple and silly, but probably cheaper. At least I've found a hand-locked freehub that fits perfectly and will most likely pay off in less wear and fuel efficiency. The auto parts apps that tell you which parts will fit your car indicate that this bushing will not fit the 2002 Nissan Pathfinder because the stock hubcaps get in the way. With a bit of skill and a Dremel tool, you can trim the center of the hubcap to fit. In addition, the Nissan logo on the hub cap is the perfect size and style to be applied to the locking hub with strong mounting tape, giving you a factory look.
