Review on Enhanced Eye Comfort: Adjustable Brightness Desktop Monitor for Optimal Eye Care by Michael Massey

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Great light, somewhat annoying controls

I've known about monitor light bars for a while but never had a chance to try them until I bought this LumeCube model. The overall quality is very good - the aluminum light, end button, warm/cold light and even the different brightness settings are really great. BUT - there is a problem, see below. I keep it connected to the dock, it turns off automatically when I remove my laptop, although I have to turn it on manually when I dock the car. I suspect it's less of a feature of the bar than the Caldigit dock momentarily cutting power or something. It's really nice though because it helps with the most annoying feature of this light and the reason I gave this 5 star product a 3 star rating is this light bar is a little annoying to operate. This panel essentially just balances the top and back of your monitor like a webcam. The control point is the extreme right end of the steering wheel, touching it acts like a lever on the steering wheel, constantly causing it to sway or fall. Because of this, setting up and turning on/off this panel is actually done with two hands - with one hand you just need to hold the panel in place while manipulating the controls. Otherwise I like this panel very much. My biggest suggestion for the LumeCube would be to bundle an "extra" wireless remote with this panel and just make it a bundled accessory, even if you have to up the cost. Unless, of course, their strategy is to simply piss off their users enough to buy a wireless remote control. I don't have wireless control. still. But it can't be long.
