I bought this to replace another docking station that required Display Port software and couldn't run DP and Ethernet at the same time. Big disappointment. I saw this product in the dock that seemed to do everything I wanted so I decided to give it a try and was surprised. First, DP just worked. No software required. Second, the ethernet just worked and now I'm running ethernet + wifi successfully. The cradle connector connects to two USB-C ports on the MacBook. I'm sure this will allow many more operations to run through the station without being interrupted by other operations competing for that 5G power line (I think). Another great feature is that this station can be connected to any charger. I ended up buying a 96W power adapter, which provides enough power for the station's ports and charges a MacBook. In case you're wondering, I didn't need a high-capacity charger; The 65w brick that came with the MB Pro was enough, but I wanted to make sure there was extra juice. In any case, there was no such possibility in the old dock.
