Good and Bad Characteristics of Hard Drives Accessories

Anyone who works with M2 hard drives knows that they can get very hot. When using them with a portable case, you don't have the computer's internal fans, making it even more important that they can dissipate heat. On the good side, this is one of the best I've worked with for this. The case is a solid aluminum body, very durable - no plastic except for the end caps. I did a 30 minute file transfer and it ended up being quite warm but still light to the touch. Now the not so good stuff and why did I give it three stars instead of five. Thank goodness for Revain's return policy because I had to go through four of these devices to get two that worked consistently throughout the transfer process. One arrived DOA. It just wouldn't start and the other kept disconnecting. This makes me think maybe their USB card quality control could be improved. Fixed – The fourth unit mentioned above is out of order, but the good news is that the fifth seems to be working fine. What I've learned not to do is turn them on at startup. Plug them in instead after everything is G2G. My suggestion is that if you can handle the frustrations and delays, it's worth the effort, because the fact is these cases have the most reliable heat dissipation capabilities of their kind on the market.
