I have lifelong insomnia, my husband uses CPAP and restless legs. He was curious about these weighted blankets, so I first bought two from another company (which was more expensive). We really liked them but our cat hated them. She kept sniffing and scratching at it as if filled with something that smelled bad and repulsed her. Also, the competitors were lumpy. I brought back the competitors and researched them. The weighted blankets were found to be filled with either glass filler - finer, denser, and requiring less filler for the same weight, effectively resembling sand beneath the material - or with polly granules, which settled beneath the material like small pebbles feels. In addition, polygranule filler is often recycled. (I'm all for recycling, but apparently my cat isn't.) I bought this blanket in hopes that our cat would agree; she agrees. In addition to the soft-touch glass filler, the material covering the filler is bamboo, which offers a cooler, luxurious, and super-soft texture. We have ordered another one. Even if you don't have a picky cat, this blanket looks and feels much better. The decisive factors are above all the glass filling and the material bamboo. (I'm not sure if YnM makes other versions, so check if you need that too.) The only problem is that we're going to really miss our blankets if we sleep elsewhere.
