I purchased this for using on my lower back. I know these types of fillings are popular, and the reviews for this particular reusable hot/cold pack were generally favorable.I found the hot pack very easy to use after microwaving. It gave warm moist heat for a good long while, and conformed nicely to my body.I wasn't as impressed with its use as a cold pack. Even after being in the freezer overnight, it not only wasn't very cold, it also didn't stay chilled long enough at all.Perhaps I expected too much in that aspect, but I ended up using the Bed Buddy only for heat, and I made up my own cold/ice packs.For the curious.I made my own cold/ice pack like this: 2 cups of water and 1 cup of rubbing alcohol. Put liquid into doubled Food Saver bags (one vacuum packed, heat sealed bag, then that bag inserted into another). This becomes slush when stored in the freezer or gets nicely chilled when put into the refrigerator. I inserted it into a thin cotton bag. The slushy ice molds well to the body, and this cold/ice pack stays cold a good long time.Back to my Bed Buddy review.I want to emphasize that I was very, very happy with its use as a heat pack, until I noticed that the fabric was becoming worn through.The Bed Buddy began to have thin spots in the fabric, and even formed a tiny hole, just small enough that I could see the filling and could have pulled some out if I had tried.By the way, this was with about 6 hours of daily use for less than a month. It wasn't roughly handled or anything, but I think the fabric definitely should be a tighter weave and sturdier than it is.So bottom line, I returned the Bed Buddy for an exchange. The customer service was excellent, and the new Bed Buddy was shipped immediately.So I like it so much that I replaced it, but I'll be keeping an eye out for holes in this new one.
