Apparently it's hits and misses. defect in my car.

Tried to use this in my 2016 F150 after successfully using it in my 2013 Mustang and F150. problems from the start. Could NEVER get SYNC to work with it. The "downloaded instructions" from their website were useless and non-existent for actual installation and use. Spent weeks bouncing back and forth between their tech support and the Ford dealership, each pointing fingers at the other. Their tech support told me their module can't cause this as many other F150 people had no problems with my options at all. It also caused multiple codes to pop up on my ECU and completely messed with the Pro Trailer backup system. Eventually I restored it to factory settings along with my stereo to test the theory that it was this module and the stereo that were causing the problems. And Ford was right. Immediately after removing this unit and putting my factory stereo back in, everything on the truck worked fine and there were no error codes. Nothing needed to be "reset". I don't understand it myself. as mentioned in the beginning I have these EXACTLY the same modules (all my stereos are Kenwood Excelons so I don't think stereo is a factor) on my 13 Mustangs and F150s and they work flawlessly. A little disappointed because I tried it twice. Their support made me try again when they had new firmware. and while some functions started working, others got worse (it identified my truck as a C-Max) and the ECU codes kept going. So now everything is going back to the factory and I have a bunch of useless stereos laying around. I think if you research their "support forums" to see if your car comes up with a lot of problems working with their module.

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • Out of style
