While nothing can truly guarantee your safety, knowing I have a personal alarm makes me feel better, especially when I'm walking my dog (a muscular American Bulldog/Boxer crossbreed, which in itself is a deterrent to crime!). I bought this specifically to hold on to my dog's leash on morning and late evening walks. The noise is piercingly loud and anyone nearby will surely hear it. All you have to do is pull the cord on the side to turn the alarm on and to turn it off, simply plug the cord back in. The cable is secure enough that it won't accidentally fall out in your pocket. There is also a handy flashlight. Although I didn't have to replace any batteries, all you have to do is unscrew the back cover to swap them out. This personal alarm clock is definitely an extra layer of security that you cannot do without.
