Review on Delta Diamond Extreme 4-1/2-Inch Metal Cutting Diamond Blade: The Ultimate All-Purpose Heavy Duty Grinding & Cut Off Wheel for Rebar, Sheet Metal, Angle Iron & Stainless Steel by Kyle Fachini

When this cutting wheel arrived I was a bit skeptical. They weren't as flimsy as I had hoped and once I started using them I found that they were a bit slower than other reels I had used. However, the more I used it, the more it grew within me. I've been cutting 1/2" grade 8 mild steel bolts for over eight hours. I stopped just long enough to cool a 4.5" Dewalt grinder and drink some water. Normally I would wear out or break a dozen standard cut-off wheels during that time. A couple of times when sanding in hard-to-reach places, the sander would jam or kick, as sanders do in such a situation, but every time I inspected the wheel for damage, I couldn't find it and was able to continue working. After a week of regular use and a lot of abuse, including dropping it from the back of my truck a couple of times, this wheel remains remarkably intact. I've even come across aluminum, which cuts fairly well and doesn't take too much stress. When it booted up I just hit the steel with it and it quickly went back to normal. I have no idea what binder they use to bond the diamond coating to the steel wheel but it's just amazing. I even committed a mortal sin by using a cut-off wheel as a surface grinder to remove spatter and slag. This is usually very unsafe and often results in cutting wheels breaking and ejecting parts at deadly speeds. (Yes, I wear a grinding mask.) But this metal disk showed no signs of failure. I'm not saying this tool should be used as a surface grinder, I'm just saying I did and the wheel is still in good condition. See included image. There may be some precision cuts if I use a thinner composite wheel in the future, but for the vast majority of my cuts and quick grinding around welds I will be using this wheel from now on.
