As you can see from the photos of the lid there is a plastic threaded element to screw the lid onto the jars and it is removable what looks like the problem is that these banks are tightly closed. If you try to pour some liquid or liquid inside, the lids will leak. I bought these to ferment chicken feed for our flock and ended up with a mess all over the counter because there was liquid in the jars as the feed expanded. sentence is good. However, I find these jars a bit overpriced given the quality of the lids themselves. I paid $22 for 6 cans and believe a fairer price for cans of this quality would be closer to $12 ($2 per can).
