First I read a lot of reviews, one of which was very helpful that this cooker is rated for an 800w microwave. I have 1300 watts so I turned it down to power level #8. I put 1 cup long grain white rice in the cooker (I have NEVER rinsed the rice before cooking in all my years of cooking rice so I didn't use it), added 2 cups liquid (I have chicken with it low sodium uses broth), toss the rice and liquid with a spatula, then put on the pressure chamber plate (protrusions pointing up) and then the cover, making sure the cover is positioned so the holes in the top cover are offset from the holes. on the pressure chamber plate. Then I closed the lid and cooked on power level #8 (as directed in the cooking instructions) for 12 minutes. When it was done cooking, I left it in the microwave for 5 minutes, removed it, removed the lid and pressure chamber plate, and fluffed the rice with a spatula. Perfectly cooked rice! No sticking! The rice was delicious! I put the rest in a small bowl. I hand washed the oven with liquid soap. I have other Sistema products that I have been using for about 10 years now and I NEVER put them in the dishwasher so they are easy to hand wash and look new. This rice cooker is very easy to use and cooks delicious rice very quickly! SUCCESS the first time!
