Surprisingly good.

I no longer write reviews unless I get something really good or really bad. The Trond table lamp is one of the really nice things I've bought lately. I bought these to replace a bedside reading lamp that uses incandescent bulbs. It was one of those cheap $10 Wallmart table lamps with a rotary switch. I seem to have to change them every few years. The part that fails is the switch. In search of a replacement, I came across Trond. I thought $30 was a bit high at first, but I was intrigued by the features so I gave it a try. The first thing that struck me was how well it was packaged. I know it sounds silly but in the age of the blister pack I was impressed with the quality of the packaging it came in. You'll understand what I mean when you see them. I like the touchpad switch. There are no moving parts. Just a rubberized channel that you slide your finger over to increase or decrease the brightness. The 30 minute timer function is also good. I read every night before bed and just put the book down or light it up and after 30 minutes the light goes out. The lighting levels available are ideal. I had to go with a low wattage bulb for my old lamp and would have gone for it if I needed more light. The Trond's backlight turns on fairly brightly when desired and dims when I'm reading on an electronic device that requires little light, as I don't like reading on an eReader in the dark. I like the modern look and the simple design. Worth the money and very satisfied.
