Review on Dorman 989-714 Ignition Lock Cylinder: The Ultimate Replacement for Ford/Mercury Vehicles (OE FIX) by Tim Knain

To save money! for key cylinder

I used this to replace the ignition cylinder on my 2001 F150. The instructions were simple and easy to follow. Instead of paying an insane amount somewhere else, I was able to do it in my driveway. Ignition cylinders without a chip key cost around $20. I've seen ignition cylinders with remote keys for about $60. And it does NOT include the cost of programming the chip. worth your money. I have a remote key that opens the doors so I don't have to worry about having multiple truck keys. Eventually I'll replace the tailgate lock, but it doesn't matter.

Pros
  • Not cheap but decent
Cons
  • Modern
