Small tool, big possibilities

The PINECIL soldering iron is a small tool with big ambitions to solve your PCB soldering tasks. In the short time that I've used it I can enthusiastically say that this handheld is fantastic, especially for outdoor use. Will it replace my Weller WESD51 table iron? Or my SMT soldering station? No way. But when I need to work away from my desk, I expect the little PINECIL to be my choice. Remember that you only get a conical tip soldering iron. It would be nice if a 2.5mm x 5.5mm DC plug was included for the end user to make a DC power cord. I need it to be portable. So I used one of my Bosch 18V rechargeable batteries to power the iron. An internet search turned up a 3D printed CAD file for making a Bosh battery holder/adapter. It was 3D printed in ABS and I used a 0.5mm thick sheet of brass for the blade's electrical contacts. Works great at 18V, the iron heats up quickly. Advantages: Small size, portability, affordable price. Cons: No power adapter or DC power cord included.
