Revainrating 2 out of 5

Lighting seems good but impossible to install with my tablet conversion - adapter required

UPDATE (February 2019) I'm reducing my rating to 2 stars after a few months of use. The main problem is that the parking lights (taillights that are on when the headlights are on) are basically as bright as the brake lights. Because of this, it's very difficult to tell if I'm hitting the brakes or not. I didn't realize how serious this problem was until I was chasing my truck, which was being driven by my son, and nearly hit him from behind when he was forced to stop abruptly because of an animal on the road. Pick her up this weekend. ------ I'm in the process of exchanging my 2004 Ford Ranger for a pickup truck and these headlights were perfect for me. They match the metal frame well, but I wish I had accounted for the wiring differences between red/amber/white taillights and red/white taillights. Ford tail light has: brake/turn signal on one wire and running light on another wire. . I had to separate the turn signal from the brake signal to get the amber light to work and this required a "2 to 3 converter" https://www.amazon.com/CURT-56196-2-to- 3 wire. -Taillight-Converter/dp/B0046EKPHY/ref=sr_1_1?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1541195419&sr=1-1&keywords=trailer+2+to+3+wiring+converter Also the yellow blinker doesn't load the curve enough signal relay so I have "fast blinking" (the light is off). This required resistors to get the blinker working again: 5&keywords=led+resistor+turn+signal Let's see how it will perform in winter, I need a lot of external wiring/devices to get it working for me, and every connection is another potential point of failure.

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • poorly thought through
