Review on GoPro HERO9 (CHDHX-901), 23.6MP, 5120x2160, 1720 mA, black by Wiktor Wasilewski ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

I am delighted, the product is really worthy.

For a long time I was going to change the GoPro-4 to the 9th model, but somehow I didn’t dare . Now I regret that I didn’t do it earlier. The camera comes with a case, one battery and a charging cable. In addition to the camera, I purchased an original underwater box, a charging module with 1 extra battery and a set of PolarPro light filters. If anyone is interested where and what, I will throw off the links.

Pros
  • I want to say right away that I bought the camera exclusively for diving, for underwater photography. Before that, I had a lot of experience, 5 years, shooting underwater on GoPro-4. Therefore, I will compare with the 4th model, and for use under water. I won’t write about two displays on the GoPro-9 camera, image stabilization, fixing the horizon, and so on, only the lazy didn’t do it before me. I write what is important to me. The first plus is the ability to turn on, start shooting and turn off the camera, with one on, the top one (QuikCapture mode). Experience shows that when under water in dry gloves (where your finger is sometimes half as thick as this camera) you for the power on (on the 4th model), then wait until the camera turns on, then you find the record on, then there is nothing to shoot. The second plus is the simplification of work with ons under water, there are only two of them. Bottom left - switching three shooting modes: Photo, time lapse, video. Top - shooting. Simpler, in this case, is better. Looking for something in the camera menu, reconfiguring it at depth, that is, paying more attention to the camera (than, say, to a dive computer or buoyancy control) is simply dangerous (I note here, this is for a non-professional underwater operator, to which I rank myself) . The third plus - Shooting. Very good in all respects (resolution, autofocus, stabilization, field of view, the ability to shoot in RAW). In addition, I would like to note the much higher light sensitivity of the lens, 3200 ISO. Under water, where there is little light, this is important.
Cons
  • 1. I would like the battery life, all the same, more. Although, a couple of hours is still enough. 2. The case is heated, but under water, this is more a plus than a minus. In cold water, this will keep the camera from freezing. Warm water will still prevent the camera from heating up to the shutdown mode.
