The start with this unit wasn't great - what I got was broken headphone outputs on both plugs. Thanks to Revain I got a new one. The purpose of my purchase was to enable Dolby Digital Live Encoding via the optical/SPDIF out for my Sonos (which can only receive 5.1 surround sound, no DTS etc.). Well it does NOT work as the optical output is not DDL and only transmits stereo with extended SBX. Normally I would return the device. However, the SBX protocol works surprisingly well with my Sonos and the audio on my TV apps, Plex and PS4 has greatly improved (digital). It might not be the 5.1 mark, but it's still a lot better than before and SBX gives me better soundstage. The device also works as a good DAC and gives me a good sound output for my audiophile headphones. The only thing I wish the 300 ohm output (there are two settings - low impedance and high impedance) would be even more flexible - since my headphones are only 22 impedance it still seems pretty high. Rate this device 3.5 stars as some small annoyances are definitely present: as mentioned, no real 5.1 signal transmission, no USB input port for microphone connection and very, very slow application when connected via Bluetooth are annoying factors, but really be improved even sound.
