My first tests were not good. The video quality was really bad - very grainy regardless of the converter setting 720p vs 1080p. I then changed the video settings on the Wii itself. 1) Go to 'Wii Options' (bottom left corner of Wii Menu screen) 2. ) Select 'Wii Settings'. 3) Select "Screen". Changed to "Widescreen (16:9)". 5) Check "TV Resolution" - I had it set to "Standard TV (480i)" although I'm using HDTV). Switch to EDTV or HDTV (480p). These settings may or may not work for your TV, but in my case they significantly improved the picture quality. Depending on the TV/cable/etc. you may need to select different options.
