(12-2-17) This is a beautiful set and I really wanted to like it but it's kind of weird dealing with what we have now. I'll try again tomorrow and see what I can do. (See UPDATE!) For starters, as others have said, HITTLE EACH OTHER! It's definitely a design issue, the valve is Phister, or I had a Phister grip set that I'm replacing. Only the handles are too long. If they didn't make a mistake in the design, they should have where there are measurements that will allow those of us who install them ourselves. Installation is pretty easy and doesn't make much of a difference otherwise. **** I have tried several configurations with handles and so far it has been best if the handles are facing down then this shows the set screws they will be up which is very odd. I'll try all this tomorrow along with other things, maybe I can think of a way. **** The main thing is that with the supplied stems, the flanges DO NOT LOCK the stems. There is a HUGE gap showing the stem when everything is tight. Tried swapping the flanges - to no avail. Again, I'll try again tomorrow. If I can't get this to work properly, I'll go ahead and knock out the part of the wall behind the valve, although I didn't mean to resort to it. The reason I'm going this route is because I'm going to be switching to a one button setup, which means I don't have to go through the whole thing. Single knob tuning is the norm now, it's difficult. To find a three button set these days it's REALLY EASY to find one button settings. not for one reason or another. There's just too much weirdness in this whole faucet thing, it shouldn't be that hard, and if it is, explaining what needs to be done so people don't have to return their purchases. Gave 2 stars because it's a mess. I liked the look, it's not a problem, but trying to bring it all together is another thing. DIVETER to where it points DOWN. Now when I regulate the water temperature I have no problem, or when I use the diverter. One broken, other things I can't fix. - between the handle and the flanges there is another brass rod, you can clearly see the brass rod, it shouldn't be like that, but that's exactly what they sent me. I can't be sure it's not just me, to be honest I mean I know how to install various things but I don't know ALL the types of Phister faucets out there and if they are have changed over the years. My faucets are about 40 years old and I seriously doubt they have changed in that time. Also, I have no idea where to get information on how to buy what you need. I'm retired and living on a steady income, I'm not poor but I don't want to pay a VERY expensive plumber. I've already done that and he didn't even change the seat, so I won't go that route. If they offered a LONG flange to cover the stems I'd be happy to camp, but I doubt they offer those parts.
