Update: Customer service with UVII is exceptional. While I am disappointed in my first experience and purchase due to shipping damage which likely deformed the metal brackets and caused a very frustrating build situation, I am definitely impressed with this company. UVII has emailed me several times to help resolve an issue with my original purchase. The representative also stated that the company would provide customers with more specific instructions on how to perform all assembly steps correctly the first time, offered to immediately ship a new replacement unit/with the same warranty, and said that he wanted my buying experience to do the work. All in all I'm fine. As I was no longer interested in using engineered wood in the main living area and refused to replace the unit, UVII agreed to refund my full purchase price. I really appreciate their positive approach to customer service. The instructions weren't specific enough about which side certain parts of the crates should be turned to face, causing problems when salvaging the crates (the company said the instructions would be improved). Assembly takes a few hours, but that's to be expected. The packaging could be more stable. to avoid damage in transit (if the box is damaged in transit, return the item before attempting to assemble and request a replacement to save yourself a lot of hassle) Overall I would buy this unit again if I could also an MDF device wouldn't use wood. We were remodeling our living room and downsizing the furniture, so I was hoping this block would serve as a shelf and thin table next to our fireplace. I know you get what you pay for, but I recently bought a faux wood and metal Sauder unit and it was decently made/durable/beautiful. I jumped at the chance by reading reviews from several adverts about this device/type. The box arrived scratched at the seams during shipping so I was unable to return it in the same box. Shipping does not allow refusing unsigned items, but everything was fine with the details, except for a few scratches on the MDF. 'Wood.' Upon opening I was disappointed with the artificial tree. It looked cheap and looked like something you would put in your closet for organization. Directions were unclear, only images were used to describe which way the pieces of the box had to be rotated. The wooden dowels and metal inserts were difficult to align - the metal inserts were misaligned along the line - and had to be readjusted repeatedly to build the drawers - it took 1.5 hours to assemble the drawer frame and add 1 shelf. On the 2nd shelf we noticed the metal supports were warping and moving away from the shelves. When attempting to add a second shelf it splintered when setting the screw by hand (the drill was never used) due to the pressure exerted trying to straighten the deformed metal supports. This completes our build. My husband knows how to assemble furniture like this and most of the renovations in our house are done without a handyman. He was very surprised that I bought such a poor quality shelf. I can't return the device as the packaging is unusable so I've wasted a disgrace of money and time and I have nothing to show. I do not recommend this shelf, even for closet organization. My husband never talks about reviews but told me to leave an honest review "so people don't buy this crap and expect something decent".
