First of all, I saved a thousand dollars - hooray! I love my ATS, but the fact that Cadillac took no action to fix the unacceptable, ridiculous, and HUGE error in their CUE screens is extremely frustrating and disappointing. Even if they offered a "screen-only" replacement at cost - since it seems like a cure for CUE screens that have minds of their own, crack, or end up not responding to touch, it would , as if they really care about integrity and brand loyalty. Cadillac's silence on this well-documented and pervasive issue is deafening. Now let's get to the screen. The item arrived well packaged and protected, although oddly the box was completely unsealed and was not in a mailing envelope that would have allowed anyone to access the contents. Other than that everything was intact and ready for installation which, let me WARN you, can be very difficult. I consider myself a tech savvy but not an electrical engineer and I can say that the installation would be very challenging for someone with very basic or no technical skills. It's hard to get 7 out of 10. Even if you link to some very clear YouTube how-to videos, it's better to take very clear notes and document every step and screw. The tools required are relatively basic, but even if you were fully prepared like I was, there were two key screws on the back of the unit that were fully welded at the factory, making it almost impossible to proceed with the installation. I'm not even going to discuss let alone recommend how I managed to get around this major hurdle as it can cause significant damage to the case and possibly the electronics inside if you're not very careful. Chrome trim, plastic and CUE unit. Whenever I worked near a shiny cosmetic surface with sharp tools like screwdrivers, I covered them with blue masking tape to prevent scratches. And when I'm working with the CUE itself, I have it installed or left on the micro weave. Also, to avoid fingerprints and/or dust on the inside of the screen, DO NOT remove the protective film until you are ready to complete the installation. I also only removed the outer plastic after the screen was fully installed. While the replacement screen fitted perfectly, screwing it on without removing the screw heads was a challenge. The screw holes on the replacement screen were VERY narrow so I widened them slightly with a tiny flat head screwdriver to avoid smearing. A NOTICE. Make sure your car doesn't have a newer replacement CUE system, in which case the replacement screen will not work. VIEW PHOTOS Despite some very difficult obstacles that turned an hour and a half of work into over two hours, the CUE replacement screen works like a dream and as advertised. I tested it, it's responsive and the display looks perfect - what a relief and what a saving.
