Review on πŸ’» Silver MacBook Air Ledge Security Laptop Lock Slot Adapter with Combination Lock - Maclocks MBALDGZ01CL by Philip Lindsey

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Feels like this is the best option; Very happy with it after figuring out what it is and how it works

This is absolutely the best and most functional Mac solution yet. I couldn't figure out the key too easy to lose. I didn't want the plate, there seems to be too many complaints about the plate that either the screws come loose or something gets in the way. I actually bought it from maclocks.com because the descriptions here on Revain are not as clear and helpful as I need them to be. However, I understand that thieves may not get much information. It was about the same price; I don't know if this one comes with a clear "lid" since it comes with Makloks, but it doesn't matter; It turns out that the lock does not need a cover. I've seen some descriptions where it looked like the lid and lock were connected in some way - it's NOT. I also already had a colored lid on my Mac that I liked and I basically traced the notch in the bottom of the clear lid that came with the kit and used the Dremmel tool to cut the same notch in the colored bottom . My colored apple lid holds up a little better than the clear one. So if you're worried about your lid with this lock, all you have to do is cut a notch for the device (protrusion) and it's not very big. You don't need a cover at all to attach the lock - the protruding part attaches to the bottom of the laptop. The bar doesn't come loose, and neither does the lock once it's secured - anyone, even a creative one, isn't going to be able to quickly rip it out and run with a laptop. dollars, but you can keep. The cable I received is long. I'm not sure on Amazon, but Maclocks also sells a very secure cable bolt for less than $10 that either sticks in place or screws into a solid object and is also not easily penetrated by a thief. very well thought out. You don't need it with a cable lock, though, if you have something solid to attach it to. The cable lock is easy to install and easy to fasten. It took about 45 minutes from start to finish, including reading the instructions and changing the Mac's color coverage. If you're planning this for college, just make sure your kid knows how to use a combination lock properly to ensure the code itself doesn't get compromised AND knows how to properly secure the cord to something solid (like a folding table, not a leg, but a top mechanism that cannot be disassembled). Worth the money and the best option so far. I did a lot of research before buying. Available for MacBook Air and MacBook Pro - make sure you pick the right one.
