I have purchased both this 1/2 drive kit and the 3/8 thru hole kit. This rating is for a 1/2 drive knob/switch ratchet set. Pros: Balance and ratchet feel were great. Felt like a quality instrument that could take a beating. Superb semi-soft folding bag: compact yet well thought out. Why high-end socket manufacturers don't offer these housings is beyond me. Surprisingly good screwdriver chuck. Nice smooth ratchet with excellent quick release. itself. Indifferent laser engraving (not even centered on one side - don't believe the photo), sloppy fit on the ratchet head, and milling the inside of the drive square where the locking ball seats screamed CHEAP. The same socket "blocks" on two/three different faces when it should only block on one. The sleeve that holds the sockets in the case was very loose resulting in the sockets almost falling out when the case was opened (the reverse problem occurred with 3/8" sockets). Run, don't leave these nests "And I wouldn't throw it on impact. While the ratchet has a solid feel and decent length, it also feels unnecessarily clunky. It's fine for casual use, but it's not a tool you can use all the time day. Again, folks who use a 1/2" drive all day aren't really the market for a set like this. Something like a coroplast) gets boring very quickly. A sports mat-like material that can be washed with buttons instead of velcro could be better one very minor complaint the rotating sleeve on the extension is a good idea but why did wera choose to use a piece of flimsy plastic instead of grooved one Using steel is a bit confusing. Obviously a vulnerability and another thing that just says CHEAP. In the end I decided to return the set, although it was a difficult decision as I like the ratchet. However, keeping a $200 set just to keep a $65 ratchet seemed silly to me, and I had already decided to return the 3/8" drive set for even worse quality control. For $300 a very respectable set from SK, Armstrong, Wright with lots of detail. , a full warranty and a much better fit and finish are up for grabs - serious tools. If this set was under $100 I would consider it a good value (but I might still consider the Craftsman better) but ultimately it doesn't justify the cost which approximates really well mid-range pro tools. The real value proposition it offers lies in some innovative features, ergonomics and a decent body. no worse.
