Review on LG 27UN850 W: Borderless DisplayHDR Monitor with Adjustable Stand, USB Hub, and High Dynamic Range by Mark Daniels

UPDATE: April 25th, 2021: After encountering issues with USB-C cables longer than the 12" cable supplied by LG, I decided to try Apple cables as Apple is known for produce high quality products. First I tried Apple cable (thin) USB-C charging cable 1 meter cheaper. This cable didn't work. I then tried the (thick) Apple Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) cable with 0.8 meters more expensive. This cable works perfectly. I've found that with all the USB-C cables I've tried, the thickness of the cables that work is much thicker than the cables that don't. Another benefit I wasn't expecting is that with a good working, thick Apple Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) cable, my Apple Watch suddenly started unlocking my Mac properly. ========This is a wonderful monitor. However, if you want to use a USB-C to USB-C cable longer than LG's bundled 12-inch cable, you can't do this: The bundled LG USB-C 12-inch cable works fine with my Mac mini M1, but I need a longer cable. I tried one of my 3 inch USB-C cables and it doesn't work. The Q&A here also shows that at least 2 other buyers are having the same issue. Thinking it might be a poor quality cable, I ordered 2 Anker USB-C 3ft cables: they didn't work either. Then I tried another one of my 3 inch USB=C cables and it worked. Unfortunately I don't know what brand it is and where it came from. I just got off the phone with LG support. They couldn't offer me a solution for a USB-C cable longer than the included 12 inch USB-C cable. (I'm not interested in using an HDMI cable.) LG support told me that any other 3" USB-C cable "should work". But obviously not all. I was surprised that even the Anker USB-C 3 cables didn't work. LG support also kept trying to tell me that the *12" monitor cable is the 'standard length'. Of course that's ridiculous. Too bad I had to deduct 1 star due to this issue. YMMV Otherwise is this again is a great monitor.
