It works once you get the hang of it (no thanks to poor documentation).
My first impression was that the heat is controlled by a sensor at the end of the cable. So I put it in an ice bucket to see if the cord got really hot. It's not after 30 minutes. So I sent it back and got a replacement very quickly (3 days). To test this, this time I also dipped the part of the cord closest to the outlet (the part with the obvious protrusion) in ice. When I did that, it worked like a charm. 1 star deducted because of the horrible documentation that doesn't tell what part of the cable the temp sensor is on. At least the seller sent a replacement quickly.
