Review on High-Quality DEF Ignition Coil: Direct Replacement for Kohler MV16 M18 M20 TL27-58401 (52 584 01-S 52 584 02-S) by Bill Sorenson

This review was written after 6-8 hours of use. It replaced a factory ignition coil that did not produce a spark per cylinder on a Kohler M18S fitted to a Gravely 16G. My first impression of this is that it was of decent build quality, was heavy but the wire insulation seemed too soft. Mounting holes left little room for adjustment (and error) and it was impossible to get an even air gap. The longer connector wire had about 4-5 inches of slack, but I just tucked the extra wire away from the dirt and wrapped it with tape. One thing to note is that my starter cable adapter didn't fit snugly, as the new blade is narrow I simply squeezed the connector with pliers to tighten it. Once installed the engine fired immediately and the spark showed a much stronger spark as my spark meter showed. There are no major timing issues and the fit was fine (note the air gap could not be adjusted to spec). While I don't expect this Chinese reel to outlive the first to last over 30 years, it appears to be a good return.
