It's as loud as running water from a faucet that isn't noisy. It needs to be turned on and off with the power button, it clicks on and off. The on/off switch does not turn the device on or off. The regulator power levels are barely visible, as is the indicator line. I have to turn the knob for the right amount of water each time depending on how it feels. It is well made and of good quality. There is a timer I believe for 3 minutes. which stops the device but does not switch it off. The description didn't mention a timer, which is why I bought it. I have to brush my teeth for more than 3 minutes. I have receding gums and it takes me about 10 minutes to brush my teeth properly. In any case, I have to stop the device to fill it with water. I love the product and would love to use it.
