This is what I have observed using these devices. First I connected them through my network and it worked. This worked fine but my network is slowing down. So I plugged it into a separate ethernet cable directly from my security camera and it worked great for the TV. Since it didn't exist on my network, I didn't experience any slowdown. So I just use it with an ethernet cable as an extension so I can view my cameras from my TV through one of the HDMI ports. The picture is very clear and always catchy.
