They're not perfect, but they do what they promise. Love how easy it is to attach them to BOTH ends of the chain. I just used my wire cutters to adjust the excessive chain length. In terms of strength, magnets are as strong as you can imagine. Today it held my paparazzi necklace all day, but when I attached the magnetic clips to the bracelet (banging wrist on tables, reaching into my purse, etc.) it fell apart multiple times. So I just added an extra magnet on each end and it's much stronger and works great! I buy more! My only complaint is the price.
