For the most part I am completely satisfied with this sound level meter. The instruction manual states that the accuracy is no more than 3.5 decibels and no less than 3.5 decibels. This sound level meter may not always be accurate, but it is a very good indicator. I used it with up to 30 decibel noise canceling headphones at a few live music gigs before work and found that most readings at the gigs I worked on were typically between 96 and 98 decibels with a maximum of 104, A Rick Ross concert is 6 decibels. I can see how the headphones protect my ears from very loud noises. This sound level meter is easy to use. I agree with a previous reviewer that the power button can be toggled on and off unintentionally, which unintentionally decreases battery life. If you want to see if an environment meets OSHA safety standards or not, this sound level meter is a good reference point.
