I first bought this aquarium from a fish store (Petco) over a year ago. We use it to house a lonely male Betta in a small downtown apartment. I was afraid to order our second tank online due to the potential for cracks and such during shipping. However, we were pleasantly surprised when the tank arrived safe and sound and for less than half what we paid in store over a year ago. Okay, enough background to review: Pros: - Modern/sophisticated look (especially with the LED light on) - Filters/bulb included - Durable (remember it's plastic so be careful when going through it replace water) - C few plants / decoration flow not too strong for bettas (even for fancy bettas, I have a crescent) - price cons: - the pump on the filter is not very good. Even with proper maintenance, the filter will lose performance over time and will need to be replaced annually - Small size = more water changes and maintenance - Plastic (being plastic collects water that is not easy to remove without damaging the material) Overall: This is a great little starter aquarium for anyone wanting to have roosters. I live in a very small studio in the city center so space is at a premium. The tank fits perfectly in my breakfast bar that connects the kitchen and living room. All in all a great tank. If you want to keep males, a filter is a must. At the same time, everything is fine with the filter on this device, but not excellent. However, this is the best setup you can find for under 3 gallons. Since I keep a fancy Betta that needs above average water conditions, I still do a partial water change every 3-4 days and a full water change every 2 weeks. Filters last about 2 weeks and after 3 weeks they do practically nothing. In addition, the top cover has large cut-outs for power and cables. This unit does NOT come with a heater and you need to purchase a small heater for betta fish or other tropical fish.
