The brackets mount normally to the windshield, but the main pipe had to be re-drilled.
I bought both the left and right mirrors for my 85 CJ7. The windscreen brackets are fine, but the main pipe needed to be re-drilled, it was offset about 90 degrees. My only other complaint is that they vibrate a lot. In general, everything is fine, the price is good.
