Pretty solid. If you have an upholstered bed that you want to make more secure/rigid, this is for you. We already had a hard bed that we wanted to make a little bigger. not necessarily softer. But we needed some pressure relief. We had to "give in" a bit to be lighter on our shoulders and hips. Our firm mattress used to be perfect, but as we got older we realized we needed to take the pressure off. I'm not sure if this topper will do anything. He's so hard! We've had this for a while and we still don't know if it makes a difference. So I guess no. We would feel it, right? It doesn't make matters worse. But that doesn't make her any better. We're skipping the return window, so we're keeping it. But it's definitely not what we were looking for. The topper had a very unpleasant chemical smell. It took almost two weeks to air out the guest room and open the windows to get rid of it. However, everything is fine now. Also, this topper is very hot! It's getting so hot it looks like summer is going to be a nightmare.
