Spend your extra money and buy a quality set

TLDR: steel plates are ok. The cutscenes are terribly awful - just know that you need to "upgrade" them with high-quality cutscenes - or better yet, save yourself the time, hassle, and money and buy a quality set to get started. I'm old enough to know better. Buy quality first and only cry once. But cheap and cry, cry and cry. Getting around the car still requires some effort, but I could do some things myself. In theory, I only have to move the car twice a year. Push once to the side of the garage for wintering (today's task) and push once in the middle and drive out for the summer. I put four of these under my Audi TT Roadster. A two-door convertible that weighs around 3,500 pounds overall. The floor in my garage is an unfinished (not epoxy coated) but smooth concrete slab. Alone I was able to get the rear end to "wiggle" slightly. With two sliders we were able to make the rear wobble a bit. The front was frozen solid. Didn't move. At first we tried to spin the reels in the right direction, but we couldn't get the car to run. The main problem is the roller axles. There are no camps at all. Just a jack. (which, by the way, is not even lubricated). You would probably find it easier to just leave the car on the ground and jack it up. Steel plates are ok. Save yourself the hassle and buy a higher quality set if you need to move your car.
