I bought this unit to replace my old USB 2.0 external DVD drive. I'm a litigator. I receive a lot of evidence from the police and prosecutors on CDs and DVDs which I transfer to my hard drive as soon as I receive it. I have an ultraportable laptop with no optical drive. This drive works very well. The transfer speed is many times faster than my old drive. That saves me a lot of time. Built-in cable simplifies operation. I have a lot on my mind and too often have forgotten to take my cables with me to count them. Overall I am very happy with this drive. I would recommend it to a friend and buy again if needed.
